as per Engineer Edgar Saavedra's suggestion, openings in metal purlins were done using angle grinders..
note: -initial mock up consumed 1 disc for 1 typical TNB -for longer cuts (100 to 150mm) like the ones illustrated in these pictures, grinders were used..
For waterline HOLES, its more appropriate to make it vertically rectangular which you was suggested by harold. Use cutter if its faster and cheaper than grinder as you have mentioned in your post.
